Leaked Galaxy Alpha Photos Look a Whole Lot Like the iPhone

Samsung is expected to challenge the iPhone this year with its first metal smartphone, but it looks like the rumored Galaxy Alpha could be a near copy of Apple’s iconic design. A fresh batch of leaked photos show the device in white with chamfered edges and a sleek rectangle design that’s almost identical to the iPhone 5 and 5s.

Beyond its 90 degree edges and that familiar mix of metal and white materials, the Galaxy Alpha appears to share a few more similarities with the iPhone. There’s that physical Home button, which Samsung has been using for years, and the metal antenna band that’s become synonymous with Apple. The phone is still running the same modified version of Android found on other Galaxy phones though, and the back apparently features the same dimpled plastic design found on the Galaxy S5.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Alpha is expected to offer a mix of high and mid-range specs, including a 4.7-inch 720p display, an Exynos 5433 octa-core processor, a 12-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of non-expandable storage and a Nano SIM slot. We’re still not sure exactly when the device will launch, though recent rumors suggest Samsung will announce the new phone sometime this month ahead of the upcoming Galaxy Note 4.
