Microsoft Trashes Siri in New Cortana Ad

Microsoft introduced the Cortana voice assistant in Windows Phone 8.1, which is now rolling out to older devices and shipping on new Windows Phone products. In an effort to educate the public on Cortana’s new features, the company has released a new commercial that pits its voice assistant Cortana against Siri, the original.

In the ad, a user asks Cortana to remind him to wish his wife a happy anniversary the next time she calls. Siri replies, “Oh no, I cannot do that.” Cortana is also asked to remind the user to get roses when he’s near a flower shop. “I can’t do that either,” Siri responds. Cortana does have some impressive commands, particularly when it comes to location-aware information, that’s on a par with Google Now. Siri does have some catching up to do, and it’s possible we’ll see a lot of new features when the final version of iOS 8 hits this fall.

Think Microsoft’s Cortana is better than Siri? Or do you still prefer Apple’s voice assistant?
