AT&T on Thursday officially announced that the Windows Phone 8.1 update is now rolling out to the Nokia Lumia 1520. The update includes plenty of new features first introduced by Microsoft back during its BUILD conference in April including, of course, the brand new Cortana voice assistant.

Other features include the ability to choose your home screen background, which now filters through the live tiles for a more personal experience. The update also includes enhancements for the Lumia 1520’s camera, Microsoft’s brand new Word Flow keyboard, the Action Center notification shade, improved Wi-Fi, data and battery management and more. For more on the new operating system, be sure to check out our “Top 5 Features of Windows Phone 8.1” story.

Anyone with a Lumia 1520 on AT&T can update the phone now by heading to Settings and selecting “Phone Update.” AT&T recommends that users have at least 50 percent battery life first and, as always, we also suggest you back up your phone before getting started.
