I won’t lie to you. CounterSpy has floated on the fringe of my radar as a “maybe” title ever since its announcement. I never had a chance to preview it at any conventions, so my full knowledge of the title included its take on the Cold War, the 2D-esque perspective and the involvement of a former Pixar member as the Art Director.
The launch trailer for the game, though, took that potential purchase into definite territory for me. I’m a lover of everything at work here, from the unique setting and storyline to the outstanding art style. CounterSpy looks right up my alley.
Here’s how the trailer’s description reads, for more info:
Combining the spy mythology and bold aesthetics of the 1950s and 1960s and set during the Cold War, CounterSpy focuses on the rogue third spy agency, C.O.U.N.T.E.R, that keeps the world’s super powers at bay. Just as each side of the ongoing conflict gets close to unleashing a blow of earthshaking proportions, C.O.U.N.T.E.R. jumps into action, stealthily sabotaging their dastardly plans and deceptively maintaining world peace.
CounterSpy will be a Cross-Buy title, too. $14.99 will get you the game on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. It’s also Cross-Save, so you’ll be able to go portable and return whenever you want.
Finally, CounterSpy is a part of Sony’s PLAY campaign. It’s one of four games that, if you buy more than one of will earn you some bucks. Buy two of the four games, get $3. Three games will get you $6, and all four will get you $10. You can read all about that deal right here.
CounterSpy will launch on August 19th. I’m definitely going to grab it, how about you?
