Japanese Mario Kart 8 Commercial Rocks Luigi’s Death Stare – So Harrowing

Nintendo of Japan has released a brand new TV spot for Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U. This piece of television glory features slow motion driving and a little bit of the Luigi death stare that went viral near the game’s release.

Sure, the actual death stare may be a brief slice of the trailer, but I’m willing to bet that Nintendo’s Japanese marketing arm did this one on purpose. The thumbnail selected for the video is the death stare itself. It’s this frame exactly, actually.

Mario Kart 8 Commercial Features Luigi Death Stare

No way that’s a coincidence.

Mario Kart 8 has been selling exceptionally well internationally, and that goes for Japan, too. The game sold more than 885,000 in its first five weeks at retail.

Are you one of the now likely 1,000,000 gamers sporting Luigi’s death stare on a daily basis?
