Xbox One’s Destiny Beta Not in 1080p

Destiny Gameplay (PS4)

Today’s the day the PlayStation gamers will be diving into the beta for Destiny, the first non-Halo product from Bungie since its split from Microsoft. PlayStation 4 gamers will see the beta in 1080p, the same resolution it’s set to ship with at launch this September.

Xbox One gamers, however, will enjoy the beta at a lower resolution.

The news comes from a livestream featuring the likes of Bungie and IGN. The folks from IGN offered that it was their understanding that the PlayStation 4 beta for Destiny would come in at 1080p while the Xbox One’s version would not.

Bungie Community Manager David Dague affirmed that was the case, and then offered that the current resolutions might not be the ones we see at release.

“There is always room for improvement…

…This beta is where we are in development right now. The fact that you are playing in the beta is of enormous help to us because it teaches us what this thing is, it teaches us how we can perfect it and make it better before launch.

We are aiming for 1080p on all platforms…”

1080p is the target for Xbox One, and I imagine Bungie might be able to hit that mark on the Xbox One in time for release.

Does this at all affect your platform choice for Bungie’s next?
