Did you pick up a Gear Live or a G Watch Android Wear smartwatch recently? If so, you need this brand new application that adds a whole bunch of new functionality to the smartwatch. It’s called Wear Mini Launcher, and it addresses one of our biggest complaints with Android Wear so far.

After using Android Wear for a few days, we were a bit disappointed to learn that you can’t simply open individual apps on the device without using your voice. It’s a feature that’s available on most other smartwatches, like the Gear 2 and the Pebble. Now, with Wear Mini, you can browse the apps that are installed on your Android Wear devices, like Fit, Keep and more, so that you can open them on-the-go without using your voice.

Once it’s installed on your smartphone, you can open Wear Mini by swiping from the top-left corner of your Android Wear device. Then, it will open a menu with all of the applications that you can operate directly on your watch. There’s aren’t many now, but we expect that in the coming weeks we’ll start to see more and more standalone applications made available for the platform, and that’s when Wear Mini is going to be super useful.

We’ve already installed it on our G Watch and can’t wait to see how it develops in the future. The developer behind the app says it’s only a first release, but it already has an average of 4.8 stars on Google Play. Hit the source to download it now.
