Raiden Confirmed For Mortal Kombat X by Exploding a Dude’s Head

The lightning god Raiden has been confirmed to appear in Mortal Kombat X. The long time contender has always been popular with the series’ fans, even though he is slightly overpowered on the story front.

Developer NetherRealm Studios revealed the character in the only way they now how: an overly gory Fatality trailer that will probably clear the room of our co-workers if you fire it up in the office. Poor Kotal Kahn never even sees it coming, mostly because his eyes rupture from his skull before his head explodes into a million little pieces. It’s not a pretty sight.

Raiden can take up to three forms in Mortal Kombat X. Thunder God Raiden, which leans heavily on electric based combo attacks, Displacer Raiden and his teleportation moves, and Storm Lord Raiden, who is all about using distance lightning attacks and traps. Of course, his diving torpedo move is always a good fall back option.

Beyond looking at Raiden, we also get a glimpse into the x-ray cinematics of the game which show off the characters’ bones shattering and organs rupturing after a heavy impact. Ouch!

Mortal Kombat X will release for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
