Google IO 2013 - Google Maps - Mobile - 029

Google this week rolled an update to its iOS app that introduces a handful of new features, including the ability to see your reservations from Gmail right on the map. The new features are meant to make both discovery and search results easier to digest; with search results, they now appear with descriptions directly on the map, which you can also see them in a list view to easily choose which restaurant or barber you want to check out.

Google Maps for iOS has always been a very solid service, and it’s great to see Google always making small improvements. In addition, Google has also improved its Explore tab, which gives you suggestions of places to eat nearby, such as restaurants, bars, shopping and more. Nothing too revolutionary, but for an app that Apple tried to oust from its platform, Google Maps is easily one of the best, if not the best, mapping services you can get for iOS.

No word on when the Web platform’s latest feature will make it over to mobile.
