Digital Pre-Ordering is Coming Soon to Xbox One

The ability to pre-order downloadable games and, as a result, get the accompanying pre-order content, will hit Xbox One soon. At the very least, before Oct. 28.

In the most recent Sunset TV – developer Insomniac’s weekly web-show devoted to Sunset Overdrive news – Insomniac’s Community Manager Brandon Winfrey answered a user-submitted question: “Will I be able to get the Day One Edition content if I download it from the Xbox Marketplace?”

“Yes. If you pre-order the game digitally, you will get the day one edition content. You can’t pre-order digitally yet, but soon you will be able to,” Winfrey says, adding that those who do will get some digital-exclusive content.

With Sunset Overdrive set to release on Oct. 28, this puts a firm date on when this feature will come to Xbox Live. This doesn’t say anything about pre-loading, though it’s feasible that the two features would be part of the same update.

As to whether you should pre-order a game, whether it’s on disc or just a download, it’s up to you whether you want to give Insomniac money before you check out their game.
