Xperia Z2 Tablet With Verizon LTE Pre-Orders Open on July 10

Sony’s impressive Xperia Z2 tablet is finally getting the 4G LTE treatment here in the U.S. almost half a year after the device was first announced. Pre-orders for the 10.1-inch Android slate open up on Thursday, July 10 starting at $499.99 as a Verizon exclusive before hitting stores a week later on July 17.

For $499.99 you’ll get the Xperia Z2 Tablet on-contract from Verizon, while an extra $100 will get you the same LTE-enabled device off-contract. The carrier is also throwing in a pair of $60 noise canceling earbuds when you pre-order the tablet, and Sony is offering $100 of extra movies and media that comes pre-installed. You’ll also get Office Suite Pro for free along with the usual Verizon apps and services.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet is an impressive piece of technology, and when we reviewed it earlier this year we came away impressed. Sony’s latest slate comes equipped with a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200-pixel display, a 2.3GHz Qualcomm processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a front-facing webcam, a 6000mAh battery, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage with microSD support. It runs a near-stock version of Android 4.4 KitKat.

If you’ve been eyeing the Xperia Z2 Tablet but wanted to pick one up with LTE support now’s your chance, though for the moment the only carrier option is Verizon. At the rate Sony is going, however, it probably won’t be long before we see the company announce its next flagship tablet. It might be worth holding out for the Z3 Tablet (or whatever Sony calls it), though that will probably mean waiting even longer for that LTE version to arrive in the U.S.
