Apple Hires TAG Heuer Sales Director Ahead of Rumored iWatch Launch

by Sean P. Aune | July 4, 2014

Apple has scooped yet another employee with a background in watches. This time it was the sales director of TAG Heuer.

During an interview on CNBC this week, Jean-Claude Biver, head of Jewelry and Watches at TAG Heuer’s parent company LVMH, was asked about comments he made previously about Apple trying to scoop up employees. He uncomfortably laughed and said that it has just happened again. “Our sales director left yesterday because he took a contract with Apple to launch the iWatch,” said Biver.

There is no way to know if he was actually told this, or if he is just guessing that is the project the newly departed sales director will be tackling.

With the number of new hires Apple has made of late from watch and fitness companies, it is just about impossible for the company to deny at this point that it is working on something in the wearable field, but in typical Apple fashion it remains tight lipped. The current rumors point to an October announcement, so we don’t have too much longer to wait to find out what is the actual truth.
