Just a few weeks after releasing Murdered: Soul Suspect to some very positive reviews, developer Airtight Games is closing the doors on the studio, according to a report from GeekWire.
The company has been around for 10 years and had released, in addition to Murdered: Soul Suspect, games like Dark Void and Quantum Conundrum.
The company had suffered layoffs and staff departures shortly before the game’s release, suggesting the studio might be in trouble. The company laid off 14 people in April and Kim Swift (also known as one of the designers of Portal) left for Amazon.
The company’s webpage and Twitter have not yet been updated with information regarding this, but GeekWire’s report states the office’s equipment is being sold and the office is vacant.
Murdered is a unique, interesting game, and I hope the people behind it can find Something soon. The company was based in Redmond, Washington, so maybe Microsoft will see the team’s potential.
