Google announced on Tuesday that it has officially acquired the streaming music service Songza, officially confirming rumors that cropped up early last month. Google said it doesn’t plan to change anything immediately and will let the firm operate as usual – at least from a user perspective.

“Over the coming months, we’ll explore ways to bring what you love about Songza to Google Play Music,” Google said in a blog post. “We’ll also look for opportunities to bring their great work to the experience on YouTube and other Google products.”

If you haven’t used Songza before, you should give it a whirl. Basically, it lets you stream tunes based on genre or mood, and it has a huge selection of playlists custom curated by real humans, and it’s a really first-class service that works across iOS, Android and the Web.
