While Microsoft and Sony are going all-out with their new consoles, Steam is just doing its thing, consistently growing its user base with awesome deals on games.
During the recently concluded Steam Summer Sale, the service passed the 8 million concurrent user mark, reaching a peak of 8,020,792 over the weekend.
The overall number of accounts hit 75 million back in January of this year, and the winter sale helped the service pass 7 million concurrent users. Steam passed the 6 million user mark back in 2012, and it seems like its having a pretty easy time holding onto that number during the day now.
Steam is doing a fine job of growing on its own, but games like Dota2, which has by far the most active players on the service, are certainly doing their job to help.
