It seems almost certain at this point that Apple will release a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 sometime in September. That’s a considerable size bump from the 4-inch screen on the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5, so what does this mean for consumers? We’ve already had a good look at the iPhone 6 dummy unit, we have one in our office, but we haven’t yet seen what iOS 8 will look like on the big screen.
Now thanks to a demo from YouTuber Tom Rich, we have the best look yet at what the software experience will look like on a larger iPhone. Rich used some video editing magic to run the demo, so he didn’t actually add any operating hardware into the iPhone 6 dummy, but the result is still stunning. We can see how great iOS 8 looks on a bigger screen – the keyboard looks roomier, for example – though note there isn’t room for an additional row of icons in this demo. As Rich reminds us in the video, keep in mind this is just a simulation of what the experience may look like.
Hopefully Apple has some extra tricks up its sleeves for taking advantage of the bigger screen. iOS 8 is currently in the beta 2 stage of release, so there’s plenty of time for additional features to be added, and we’re expecting a few surprises when the operating system launches this fall.
Now how about a demo with the 5.5-inch iPhone 6?
Here’s another gallery of our iPhone 6 dummy unit:
New images have cropped up that appear to be the rear shell of the iPhone 6 and line up with previously leaked schematics and dummy units. To date only one image has appeared of an iPhone 6 rear shell, and it was your typical blurry image. This new set of four images is much better […]
We’re 99.999-percent sure Apple is going to introduce a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 this fall. We’re about 99.8-percent sure the company will also announce a larger 5.5-inch iPhone, with dummy units appearing in the wild with the larger frame. Now, thanks to 9to5Mac, via Sonny Dickson, we have a look at what appears to be the […]
Once again leaks of the schematics for the iPhone 6 have popped up online, giving us possibly even more confirmation of what the next iteration of the iPhone could look like. Schematics claiming to be that of the iPhone 6 have popped up online before, and now this weekend a new set appeared via Chinese […]
What typically happens before every big iPhone release is a slow unveiling part by part. Before previous iterations, we saw internals, back plates and even smaller pieces, like volume rockers and power buttons. Today, well ahead of a potential fall iPhone launch, we might be getting a glimpse at the larger screen real estate coming […]
History tells us the iPhone 6, Apple’s next big flagship, won’t be out until September or October. And while we still don’t know much about it other than potential screen size, more information about the handset on Friday began seeping onto the Internet. Do you want to know some potential specs? Sonny Dickson, who provided […]
