The Internet gods have stepped in and saved Community from cancellation.
After NBC cancelled fan favorite Community this season, the Internet quickly called on TV streaming sites to pick it up. While there had been some discussions with Hulu – which currently streams the previous seasons – those talks broke down last week. Time was quickly running out as the actor’s contracts expired tonight at midnight, but all is well now as the show has been ordered to a sixth season… on Yahoo.
Coming out of left field, Yahoo announced today that it would be picking up the show on Yahoo Screen.
And the crowd goes wild… the Darkest Timeline is over. “Community” is coming to Yahoo! Beginning later this Fall, tune into Yahoo for the highly-anticipated sixth season, with 13 new episodes available exclusively on Yahoo Screen.
Of all the potential homes for the series, this was clearly the unexpected dark horse, but it is sure to bring a lot of new attention to the Yahoo service, and quickly escalates it in to being a contender. Hopefully before the fall premiere date the Yahoo Screen service will appear on more devices to make it available to the widest possible fan base.
