Speaking during Google I/O 2014, Android head Sundar Pichai provided some information on Android and its performance.
He said Android users take 1.4 trillion steps a day and check their phones 100 billion times a day. More interesting, however, is the number of active Android users. Pichai said that there are now more than 1 billion 30-day active users, which means users who have used Android in the past month. Additionally, Pichai said Android’s tablet market share is now at 62 percent, up from 46 percent last year.
A new initiative called “Android One” will help Google spread Android around the globe. Android One is a hardware reference platform that tells manufacturer what needs to go into a next platform. It also requires stock Android, Play Auto installs and automatic updates.
