Handler will produce the stand-up special, docu-comedy specials and new talk show along with her partners in Borderline Amazing, Tom Brunelle and Brad Wollack.
If I was going to continue working in this industry, I knew I had to do something outside the box to keep myself interested. I wanted to sit with the cool kids at lunch so I approached Netflix to make sure they were as cool as I thought they were, and when I confirmed my suspicions, like with any other future lover, I made my move. Im more excited than Ive been in awhile, and the team at Netflix is the most forward thinking, alert group Ive sat down with in ages. No offense to the Shahs Of Sunset, said Chelsea.
The Internet has disrupted many of the conventions of traditional television and together with Chelsea Handler, Netflix is looking forward to reimagining the late night talk show for the on-demand generation, starting with the late night part . said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos.
Chelsea has built a huge following on tour, on nightly TV and through her best-selling books, and we cant wait to introduce her breathtakingly honest and irreverent voice to our global membership, he added.

Chelsea Handler has found a new home for her talk show, and it inches Netflix that much closer to looking like a network.
It has been known for some time now that Chelsea Handler’s Chelsea Lately talk show would be ending on E! on Aug. 26. This has led to an endless stream of speculation as to which network she may move to, but it appears she has decided to embrace the 21st century in a big way by announcing that she will instead be moving to Netflix.
Her actual talk show won’t begin until 2016, but before then she will release a stand up comedy special on Oct. 10 followed by four specials in 2015 the focus on her learning about topics she wishes she understood better such as NASCAR and politics. When her talk show does launch, it will be available in all Netflix territories at the same time giving her an opportunity to be seen by far more people.
“The Internet has disrupted many of the conventions of traditional television and together with Chelsea Handler, Netflix is looking forward to reimagining the late night talk show for the on-demand generation, starting with the late night part .” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos.
This is a big step for Netflix. While the company has been producing highly successful original content such as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, taking on a talk show is a very different beast. One has to wonder just how far the company plans to take its foray into looking more and more like a network. Could evening news be on its way some day?1
