iPhone 6 Model With 5.5-inch Screen Looks Great In Space Gray

There were worries Apple’s upcoming 5.5-inch iPhone 6 would be delayed, but recent reports suggested production was right on schedule. Now, we’re getting not one, but two different looks at what a final model could look like, and the larger model may actually look a little bit more polished than the 4.7-inch iteration, which we’ve seen plenty of over these past few months.

9to5Mac was sent images of what appears to be the space gray model, via Sonny Dickson, who provided looks at the gold version earlier today. With the new design, I’m thinking the darker colors actually look better than the lighter gold, which was a surprise addition to the iPhone 5s last year. For one, the antenna bands aren’t quite as obnoxious, though the fact that they’re still so present is worrying from a design perspective.

Aside from merely seeing the darker color, there’s not much to say about the 5.5-inch model. The design keeps in line with the 4.7-inch model, and is similar in respect to Apple’s tablet lineup. There appears to be a circular flash this time rather than the True-Tone we saw introduced with the iPhone 5s. Meanwhile, there’s a new hole on the front of the device, which could simply be a microphone for an improved front-facing camera.

We’re expecting Apple to unveil both sizes of its new iPhone 6 in just a few months, so we’re not all that far from seeing the company’s potentially bigger mobile future. In addition to larger displays, Apple is also expected to introduce an improved A8 chip, along with higher resolution screens.
