Tetris Celebrates 30 Years of Gaming Addictions

On June 6, 1984 game designers Alexey Pajitnov unleashed Tetris on the world, and gaming was never the same again.

Yes, Tetris has been with us for 30 years now, and it’s still going strong. The deceptively simple game has been released for nearly every gaming console ever released, graphing calculators and there is some version of it on every mobile platform. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Tetris is just as popular today as it has ever been.

Heck, every tablet, phone and portable gaming device I own has a copy of Tetris. It is just one of those games you can sit back and relax with, kill time at an airport, while away the hours in class and so on, never knowing that you are actually doing wonders for your brain by keeping it active and thinking.

Happy birthday, Tetris. Here’s to another 30 years… just don’t be so stingy with the “I” blocks, would ya?
