Crytek announced a new game this week in development at its Crytek USA studio.
Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age is a third-person action title set in the late 1800s based around monster hunting. This is the first title from Crytek USA, which is made up of members of former Darksiders developer Vigil.
The game has focuses on co-op – though single player is available, too – and procedural content generation.
“As bullets dwindle and lamplight flickers, you’ll have to work strategically as a team to stay alive – especially when you track down jaw-dropping bosses with the brains and brawn to send you and your friends to an early grave. Hunt together or die alone, it’s up to you,” says the promotional text on the official site.
The procedural content seems inspired by Left 4 Dead, especially in conjunction with the four-player cooperative gameplay, though Hunt will generate the map as well as the encounters.
Hunt is headed to PCs and consoles, with a closed beta hitting PCs later this year.
