Atlus is shooting for the moon in re-releasing every single Shin Megami Tensei game on the PlayStation 2 through digital means on the PlayStation 3. Over the last two months, four games have been released, and a fifth, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2, has just been rated M by the ESRB for a PlayStation 3 release.
The last time we got an ESRB rating before the game’s actual release was with Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, and the game went live just a week later. Expect a speedy turnaround from Atlus and Sony on this one also.
If this title doesn’t totally give it away, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 is a direct sequel to Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga. Not much mechanically has changed between the games besides the addition of a new Berserk mode in battle, but it does continue the narrative from where the old one leaves off.
Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2′s impending release leaves just one more game in the series for Atlus to publish on the PlayStation 3. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon was released deep in 2009, one of the last significant PlayStation 2 releases. It enjoys a cult following, and it is the direct sequel to Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army, which was released last month through the PlayStation Network.
Try saying those titles three times really fast.
