HTC has focused entirely on Android since it introduced the Windows Phone 8x and Windows Phone 8s back in 2012. That may soon change, according to statements made by a Microsoft executive during the Computex trade show in Taiwan this week. The company’s vice president of OEM partners Nick Parker teased that we’ll see something new from HTC and Microsoft in the near future.
“I’d love to break some news here if I could, but instead I’ll just say that Microsoft will continue to have a great relationship with HTC,” he said. “New things are coming, so get excited.”
What is it? We’re not sure, but just three days ago @evleaks said we can expect Verizon to launch a phone called the HTC W8 during the third quarter of this year. It will allegedly pack the BoomSound speakers and Duo camera setup found on Android, which suggests it may be some sort of flagship Windows Phone device.
The third quarter starts next month, so maybe we’ll hear more from Microsoft and HTC sometime this summer. For now, fans of both Windows Phone and HTC should be excited.
