GoPro, the maker of popular action cameras, announced on Wednesday that it has named Tony Bates as its president. Bates is the former president of Skype and executive vice president at Microsoft; he will report directly to GoPro CEO and founder Nicholas Woodman in addition to serving on the company’s board of directors.

“As President of GoPro, Tony will focus on our core business as well as scaling GoPro’s fast-growing media operations,” Woodman said. Bates described his new gig as a “dream come true.” He’s certainly going to hit the ground running at GoPro, which in mid-May filed its S-1 paperwork with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission confirming its ambitions to go public. In those documents, GoPro revealed solid profits and increased growth, though it admitted that growth may slow in the future. Bates will no doubt be tasked with trying to reverse that trend.

GoPro also announced that it has appointed Peter Gotcher to its board of directors and its audit committee. Gotcher is also the chairman of Dolby Laboratories and also sits on the board of digital streaming service Pandora.
