Apple said 98 percent of the Fortune 500 companies use iOS and it wants the final 2 percent. To do so, it’s now putting a new focus on enterprise management in iOS 8.
Device Enrollment Program, which was released in the past few months and allows you to enroll devices while they’re still in the boxes, has been one key selling point for Apple. In iOS 8, Apple said, it has expanded data protection even in third party apps, per-message S/MIME and a new productivity feature called VIP threads. If you’re in a thread and want to get notified on the lockscreen, you can do so. Exchange now supports automatic reply, third-party document providers in addition to iCloud and more. Device management now includes books and PDFs – Apple said this will be particularly huge in education.
We’re sure there will be more discussed as iOS 8 moves through the beta process.
