Homefront: The Revolution Announced for PC, Xbox One and PS4

Remember Homefront? The exceptionally hyped shooter published by THQ in 2011, and it received a harsh critical lashing amongst a fanbase that defended it despite its shortcomings.

When THQ went bankrupt, publisher Deep Silver swooped in and snapped up the Homefront license for its own use. Crytek, the same studio behind the likes of Crysis, went to work on a new entry in the series.

Fast forward to this morning, and we have the announcement and reveal of Homefront: The Revolution. You can see the brand new trailer at the head of this post. Crytek and Deep Silver also released a few screenshots.

Homefront: The Revolution will go down in Philadelphia after the events of the first game. It will be an open world affair. It will offer four player co-op, according to the release, and a strong sense of realism thanks to the Crytek engine. Here’s how the verbiage on that bit reads:

Developed by Crytek’s Nottingham studio, Homefront: The Revolution harnesses the latest features of Crytek’s CRYENGINE technology. On the ground, players will encounter a dynamic environment that looks and feels truly alive as day turns to night and storm clouds come and go – an authenticity that extends to the strikingly lifelike expressions, skin and clothing of everyone they encounter.

Homefront: The Revolution will drop in 2015 on the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
