Apple’s HomeKit Will Let You More Easily Control Your Home

Apple HomeKit

Apple’s new HomeKit developer tools coming to iOS 8 is essentially what we expected, giving developers the opportunity to create devices specifically built for iOS. That means your iPhone can more easily work with locks, lights, cameras, doors, thermostats and more. HomeKit allows for secure pairing, and allows users to control individual devices—and there’s Siri integration! Tell Siri to turn the lights off, and off they’ll go.

There are some big companies already partnering with Apple, including Philips, Kwikset, Honeywell, iHome and more. Smart home devices are already available, but Apple said it felt it was too hard to consolidate all of them into one easy-to-use experience.
