So many high profile delays in the gaming world lately, and here is yet another one. Valve has confirmed on the Steam Universe community page that its Steam Controller has been pushed back into 2015 citing that the company “is pretty busy making all those improvements.”
Obviously we’re just as eager as you are to get a Steam Machine in your hands. But our number one priority is making sure that when you do, you’ll be getting the best gaming experience possible. We hope you’ll be patient with us while we get there. Until then, we’ll continue to post updates as we have more stories to share.
The statement confirms that the company is toying with wireless prototypes at the moment and working to make it a perfect controller, but with all of the input received, the original release window was no longer realistic.
The third-party Steam Machine makers are already nervous about the prospect of these Steam based gaming computers, and delays for the essential controller are just going to make more people wonder when, where, and how this movement will become fully realized. Any bets on how long it takes before Steam Machines finally take off?
