LG does things a bit differently than other smartphone makers. It typically teases its upcoming smartphones, even confirming the names and some specs, right up until it announces the product on stage. Last night, for example, LG unveiled the G3 QuickCircle case, an accessory that will work with its new LG G3 flagship smartphone. We already saw what some of the notification screens will look like, thanks to an earlier leak, but now we have a better understanding of what it will offer.
The product will operate similarly to the LG G2 QuickWindow case, or any of Samsung’s S Cover products, and provides a small cut-out where you can view notifications without having to entirely wake up your phone. “Users can check the time, place calls, send text messages, take photos, listen to music or get an update of their health directly from the circular window,” LG explained. The company will release an SDK next month for developers who want to create new apps that use the QuickCircle notifications.
The QuickCircle case will launch in black, white, gold, mint and pink when the G3 makes its debut, though LG did not provide any pricing details. Check out the video above — which also shows us the front of the phone — for a closer look.
