The One M8 Ace, a cheaper plastic version of HTC’s latest flagship phone, could be announced early next month according to a new report from ePrice. The Taiwan-based site claims HTC will unveil the M8 Ace at an event on June 3 before releasing the device in China and Taiwan later that month.
The report goes on to suggest the M8 Ace will be priced at around 3,000 RMB in China (roughly $481). The device previously leaked in red, though ePrice claims it will come in a variety of colors. Based on recent reports we’re expecting HTC’s plastic handset to offer similar specs to the flagship One (M8), including a 5-inch 1080p display and a Snapdragon 801 processor, though the Ace likely won’t feature the new Duo Camera or a built-in IR blaster.
HTC recently teased an upcoming device on Twitter, promising “more beautiful curves” in the near future. At the time we hoped it might be a reference to the rumored One (M8) Prime, but it looks like the company may have been referring to the Ace instead. If the big unveiling really is set for June 3 it won’t be long before we get an official announcement from HTC, though it sounds like the device won’t be making its way to the U.S. any time soon.
