Want to Play Destiny’s Beta? Here’s How You Can Claim a Spot Now

For PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 owners looking to get on Bungie’s beta period for Destiny this July, the chance to lock down a spot has officially opened up.

If you head to the PlayStation Store, either online or on your PlayStation console of choice, you can pre-order the game. Make sure you are on the correct platform before you click the pre-order button. Doing so will nab you a spot in the beta. Here’s how the verbiage runs on the store itself.

Pre-Order Destiny™ and get access to the Destiny™ BETA when it becomes available! Play the game on 9/9/14 starting 12AM PST.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to register at and Join Up (New Users) or Sign In (Existing Users) to link your PSN ID and Bungie to ensure you’re notified of BETA details & timing and all things Destiny™!

So, yeah, pay attention to that “IMPORTANT” section. Most of us will need to follow those instructions simply because Destiny represents the first time will need to be linked to your PSN ID.

This beta might be the best way to demo the game before it arrives. Fair warning, though: I believe Sony charges your card or account as soon as you pre-order from them. At least, that’s what happened to me with Transistor. Whether or not you can cancel after pre-ordering, I’m not sure.

The beta was also announced for the Xbox family, though that hasn’t opened up yet. We’ll have information concerning how to get into that as it comes.

The full version of Destiny will drop on September 9th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
