Galaxy S5 Prime and GPE Spotted in Bluetooth Certification

We’re still waiting to see when all of the Galaxy S5 variants will hit the market, and today it looks like two new models have made their way through Bluetooth certification. The Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy S5 Google Play Edition were spotted today on the Bluetooth SIG website under respective model numbers SM-G906L and SM-G900FG.

Today’s leaks don’t reveal anything new about the devices, beyond the unsurprising news that both will offer Bluetooth support. The Galaxy S5 GPE should feature the same specs as Samsung’s flagship phone, but run the latest version of stock Android instead of the company’s TouchWiz UI and come with the promise of speedy software updates in the future. Meanwhile, the S5 Prime is still a bit of a mystery, though recent rumors suggest it could pack a QHD display, a Snapdragon 805 processor and a metal design.

Samsung just announced an upcoming event set for June 12 in New York, but we’re not expecting to see any new smartphones at the tablet-focused unveiling. Rumor has it the Galaxy S5 Prime will launch early this summer, while the GPE model is likely to appear in Google’s Play Store sometime soon with no warning and no official announcement.
