Exactly a week ago news surfaced revealing that Apple has plans to acquire Beats Electronics for $3.2 billion. We have some ideas why that might happen, but we’re not entirely sure yet, especially since Apple hasn’t announced anything specific. Now, we might have to wait a bit longer to find out what the real deal is.
According to Re/Code, Apple and Beats Electronics aren’t expected to finalize the acquisition until sometime next week, about a week of a delay. The two companies were originally reportedly set to finish up the paperwork sometime this week instead. Obviously there’s been some sort of accord between Apple and Beats Electronics, however, since a very public video of hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre proclaiming himself Compton’s first billionaire spread like wildfire on the eve the talks were first reported.
Apple may not actually provide public insight into its purchase of Beats Electronics until the Worldwide Developer’s Conference in early June, however, and we hope to hear exactly what it plans to do with the company at that time.
