LG is acting all casual ahead of its May 27 event, pretending like its upcoming G3 flagship is some big mystery. Truth is we’ve seen it on numerous occasions over the past several months, and the company has even acknowledged its existence. But if you’re persuaded by quick editing and blaring music, the company’s new G3 teaser might get you hyped up for the event, which is exactly two weeks away.
The most notable thing (that we know of) about the G3 seems to be its metallic body and redesigned back buttons, which look like a marked improvement over the current G2. Meanwhile, it sounds like the G3 will sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, making it one of the first big flagships to make the jump from Full HD. Other rumored specs include a 13-megapixel camera, a 3000mAh battery, and some improvements to LG’s skin, which will supposedly come with features such as “Gesture Palm Selfie” and “Quick Circle.”
From what we can tell in the video, it definitely appears as though the G3 will sport OIS, along with an additional sensor placed next to the camera, though it’s still unclear what that’s for (maybe a heart rate sensor, maybe a fingerprint scanner, though one rumor suggested it’s a laser for better low-light shots). In addition, we get the very briefest of glimpses suggesting the device will sport a screen with very minimal bezel—an aspect of a device that always adds to the “wow” factor.
“Simple is the New Smart,” the teaser says.
We’ll find out exactly what that means in just a few weeks.
