ZTE’s Open C smartphone launched on Thursday running the latest version of Firefox’s mobile operating system. The 4-inch device is available to purchase today for just $99.99 unlocked on eBay in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Russia and much of Europe.

The ZTE Open C offers the kind of hardware you’d expect based on its budget-friendly price. It comes equipped with a 4-inch display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 512MB of memory, 4GB of storage and 3G connectivity. The Open C runs Firefox OS 1.3, which offers improved messaging and email, and access to the notification bar and music controls from your lockscreen.

Mozilla is also planning to launch an even cheaper $25 smartphone in the future as the company pushes its Linux-based Firefox OS into emerging markets. Last year the ZTE Open sold out in just three days, and the Chinese phone-maker expects to do just as well with this year’s follow-up handset.

“We are pleased that ZTE is delivering another Firefox OS device, building on the success of the ZTE Open,” said Mozilla CEO Dr. Li Gong, adding that the new handset is a perfect choice for “first time smartphone buyers.”
