App of the Week: ESPN FC Is Your 2014 World Cup Companion

Following up on its promise to bring you comprehensive 2014 World Cup coverage next month, an ESPN FC app has been released to keep all you football (soccer) fanatics up-to-date with the latest scores and news. Right now the app covers your favorite leagues, including the Premier League, La Liga, MLS, Bundesliga and more, but will also show scores for every World Cup game when the competition kicks off in June. If you plan on keeping up with every score and result, this is the app you should get.

As the official U.S. World Cup broadcaster, the app will feature match highlights, analysis, comprehensive opinions and much more, including close coverage of the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, England and Spanish national teams. This is basically an encyclopedia for this year’s World Cup, which is only four more weeks away. You want to know a score? Fire up the app. It’ll also cover the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and many other big competitions around the world, such as the FA Cup and MLS Playoffs.

Match highlights and whatnot are subjected to geographic restrictions, unfortunately, so beware of that going in. Other feature include Twitter integration for more of a social experience, and the ability to add and edit your favorite teams. You can also set alerts for game starts, goals and so on, just as you would with other sports apps. The app is available for both Android and iOS, ensuring all of us mobile lovers can partake in the beautiful game. It’s already on my home screen, patiently waiting for kick off on June 12.
