Sony PS Vita Slim Borderlands 2 (3)

Just a quick reminder, the PS Vita 2000 series, called the PS Vita Slim by fans, is now available for purchase in America. The official bundle comes with Gearbox’s smash hit Borderlands 2 and an 8 GB memory card, all for just $199.99.

It’s not a bad deal considering¬†Borderlands 2 will be a full priced game when it launches individually next week and especially considering how stupidly expensive PS Vita memory cards are.

The new model is 20 percent slimmer and 15 percent lighter than the older model, extended battery life, and it even comes equipped with a single gigabyte of memory for you to use regardless of if you’ve squandered your life savings on a bigger memory card or not. On the flip side, the new LCD screen has received considerably less praise than the older Vita’s OLED did.

It’s up to you which one you want to buy. I was holding out for the PS Vita Slim, but the OLED screen was simply too big of a draw for me to just toss aside for a cheaper model. Still, your hands might forgive you for dragging around a light-weight device, and the price of that bundle is hard to ignore.

Sony also wants to remind you that along with the release of the PS Vita Slim comes the God of War Collection, which packs the first two games into a nice little Vita package.
