Huawei held a press conference in Paris on Wednesday where it announced its latest and greatest smartphone, the Ascend P7. The device will no doubt go toe-to-toe with some of the other latest flagships on the market, including the Xperia Z2, the One (M8), the Galaxy S5 and, soon, probably the LG G3. Let’s take a look under the hood.

The Huawei Ascend P7 offers a 5-inch INCELL screen with a 1920 x 1080p-pixel resolution, a quad-core Hisilicon Kirin 910TG processor clocked at 1.8GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and LTE support, which is important for some of the new markets it’s launching in, where LTE hasn’t been available as long as it has in the United States.

Huawei also added a sharp 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera. The phone-maker tapped Corning to provide its strong Gorilla Glass 3 panels, which cover both the front and back of the phone. Finally, like the Galaxy S5 and the One (M8), the Ascend P7 has an ultra power saving mode that can provide up to 24 hours of standby when the battery drops to a 10 percent charge. The phone is powered by Android 4.4.2 KitKat and also operates Huawei’s custom Emotion UI 2.3 skin.

The Ascend P7 is launching around the world this month for a recommended price of €449. Launch markets include China, the U.K., Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Serbia, Greece, Norway, Hungary, Denmark, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates.
