If you’re looking for a budget-friendly phone that can still take a beating Kyocera has your back. The company’s new Hydro Vibe water-resistant handset is headed to Sprint and Virgin Mobile this month, offering mid-range specs and a durable design at a very reasonable price.
The Kyocera Hydro Vibe can’t compete with the latest crop of flagship Android phones, but it still has a few tricks up its sleeve. The 4.5-inch handset can be submerged up to a meter under the water for up to 30 minutes. The company also claims the “impact-resistant” touchscreen won’t shatter if it slips out of your hands. The device also offers a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, PMA wireless charging support, 8GB of storage with support for up to 32GB microSD cards, an 8-megapixel camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It runs Android 4.3 out of the box.
Kyocera’s new phone lands on Sprint’s LTE network starting Friday May 9 for $0 down with a 2-year contract at $9.59 per month. Virgin Mobile customers won’t have access to the device until May 27, when it will be available for $149.99 off-contract.
