Samsung to Hold Health event on May 28

Samsung recently sent out invites for a health event that it will hold in San Francisco on May 28. It seems rather obvious that either Samsung is trying to push the boundaries on health monitoring technology or that it’s following the same Apple rumors that we all are.

In any case, the invite says “a new conversation around health is about to begin,” which suggests that Samsung has some new gadgetry up its sleeves. That’s impressive, too, considering its new Galaxy S5,Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit already put a focus on health and can monitor things like calories burned, footsteps and your heart rate.

The company could introduce a low-cost health band, but that would cannibalize sales of its more expensive products, so it’s probably unlikely. It could have something targeted at the health industry, but we’re not sure why it would hold a press conference with gadget enthusiasts to do so. Honestly, we’re stumped as to what might be coming down the pipeline.

We’ll be covering the event on May 28 as it takes place, so we’ll have the news on whatever comes to fruition. Any guesses?
