Galaxy S5 Price Drops to $99 with a Verizon Contract

The Galaxy S5 hasn’t even been on the market for a full month, but Verizon is already knocking $100 off the phone with a two-year contract. For Verizon customers in the market for a smartphone this is great news, though for anyone who rushed out to grab the S5 as soon as it launched today’s price drop could be pretty aggravating.

If you’re due for an upgrade or looking to open a new line you can take advantage of Verizon’s deal, though the carrier notes that some activation fees will still apply. For Samsung fans the Galaxy S5 is definitely a good fit, offering a familiar user experience with some handy new features including a better camera, a faster processor, one of the best screens on then market and a heart rate monitor. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor built-into the home button, though the general consensus seems to be that this scanner doesn’t actually work most of the time.

Even so, if you’re looking for a phone to make your own for the next two years the Galaxy S5 is one of your best options, especially for just $99 on contract. Then again, Samsung is expected to announce a cheaper Galaxy S5 Mini this year, so you may want to consider your other options before making a final decision.
