Square Enix and Airtight’s latest game, Murdered: Soul Suspect, charges you with finding the identity of your own murderer. We’ve already had he chance to meet the dearly departed protagonist, Det. Ronan O’Connor, and his teenaged goth-girl sidekick, but what about the murderer himself?
The latest trailer from Airtight introduces us to The Bell Killer, the man you will be hunting after. As a serial killer, he acts randomly and kills his victims in a different way every time, leaving it difficult for both the deceased O’Conner and his living colleagues to establish an MO. All they have to operate with is a drawing of a bell left behind at every crime scene, hence his nickname.
As the only survivor of his rampage, well, sort of I suppose, O’Conner is the only one with a body and a face to go after. In the meantime, he has the ever lurking shadows of the dead waiting to drag him into the afterlife to deal with as well.
I hadn’t been frightened by Murdered: Soul Suspect yet, but this latest trailer might have sold me on the frights of this game. What looked like just a supernatural thriller now has a very real world element thrown into the mix, and the voice actor of the girl in the opening completely sells the fear this guy is supposed to induce.
Murdered: Soul Suspect will be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC on June 3.
