Pokémon Art Academy Coming to Nintendo 3DS in Japan on June 19th

One of the hardest parts of being an English teacher in Japan is drawing popular characters for your kids. My students and their parents know me to be an absolutely wretched artist thanks to my horrible renditions of Pikachu, Mario and friends, and pretty much anything I put on a whiteboard or in their homework books.

The giggles just have to stop!

Luckily, Nintendo at least has my back on the Pokémon front. I’ve never had much of a reason to check out its Art Academy series, but now I do with the brand new Pokémon Edition announced for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan. It will be released on June 19 over here, but there has been no word of an English localization.

If I check it out, hopefully the 40 lessons it provides will bring my artistic impotency to a level where it can stop being the laughing stock of my school.

It’s not the most interesting Pokémon release ever, but it’s definitely something fans might like to check out if they want to explore their artistic habits a little bit more, and hopefully gain a little more confidence.
