Thomas Was Alone

The indie market has yet another venerated game to add to the ever growing rank that has sold 1 million copies. The geometric platformer Thomas Was Alone crossed the mark as confirmed by creator Mike Bithell on his Twitter account.

He further elaborated that most of the sales came through discounts and promotions, much like The Humble Bundle, where it currently sits as an option for the Humble Weekly Bundle alongside some other fabulous games.

“…bulk of those sales were in bundles / discounts / promotions. So stop your 1mil x $10 maths right now”

Bithell also made it clear that the figure does not include the free copies given away through the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection. It has been available for free for the last three and a half months on the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, and that is also where I obtained my copy. I’ve enjoyed it well enough, and I would be more than happy to pay for it on my PS Vita if I ever get the chance.

Congratulations to Mike Bithell on all his success. What will be the next indie game to become a million seller?
