Apple may unexpectedly launch an updated line of MacBook Air laptops tomorrow, 9to5Mac‘s Mark Gurman reports citing multiple anonymous sources. Gurman has an excellent track record when it comes to breaking Apple news, and notes the new models are already arriving at Apple Stores around the country where employees are set to re-organize the Mac display to emphasize the MacBook Air lineup.
The updated MacBook Air 11-inch and 13-inch models will reportedly feature new Haswell chips designed to increase speed. Apple may also change its storage options for the Air lineup, but overall this won’t be a huge change for the series. Cupertino is also expected to unveil a new fan-less MacBook Air design featuring Retina display and a thinner frame later this year.
Apple continues to promise big things for 2014, and it seems unlikely the company will draw much attention to a minor MacBook Air update. We’ll keep an eye out for an official announcement concerning the new Air models tomorrow morning, but until then it’s probably worth waiting just a bit longer before heading to the Apple store to buy a new laptop.
