Samsung Galaxy S5 Review 2

It was just last week that we were reporting on a story that revealed several of the specs for Samsung’s rumored high-end Galaxy S5, often referred to as the Galaxy S5 Prime. Now, a report from Asia Today is providing some context on when we can expect the smartphone to hit the market. If you’re unfamiliar with the Galaxy S5 Prime: it’s a rumored device that supposedly will offer even more powerful specs than what ships in the Galaxy S5, and perhaps an even more premium design that may take advantage of metals, instead of plastic.

A reporter with Asia Today said that the Galaxy S5 Premium is expected “around June,” which is roughly two months after the Galaxy S5 made its debut on April 11. The reporter cites industry sources who are again pointing to a QHD display, which means a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The aforementioned report from last week also said we can expect an Intel LTE chip in some models, while others may ship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor – a bump from the Snapdragon 801 processor in the Galaxy S5. The device is being referred to as “KQ” internally, according to several reports.

If Samsung does indeed have a more advanced Galaxy S5 in the pipeline, it’s keeping it under a tight lock. We haven’t seen any leaked photos or parts for the smartphone, so we’re still in the dark on what it might look like. Or, perhaps, it will offer the same shell as the Galaxy S5 but with an even better screen and processor.

Galaxy S5 REVIEW – Can Samsung Keep the Crown?

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S5 during the 2014 Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona earlier this year, and just a few months later it’s available all around the globe, and from major carriers in the United States for $199 with a new two-year contract.

The device offers brand new hardware components, including a faster processor, and is also equipped with unique parts like a heart rate sensor. Last year’s Galaxy S4 was extremely popular, and Samsung sold millions of units within months of its release.

Is the Galaxy S5 the best smartphone you can pick up right now? Is its camera going to rock your world? Can you really dunk it in the sink? Is the heart rate monitor all it’s cracked up to be?
