BlackBerry announced on Monday that it’s now accepting pre-orders for its newest smartphone, the BlackBerry Z3, that was announced during Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. The device, originally codenamed Jakarta, can now be pre-ordered in Indonesia, where BlackBerry originally intended the phone to makes its debut.
The BlackBerry Z3 runs BlackBerry 10.2.1, even though we know the company’s BlackBerry 7 devices still outsell its newer BlackBerry 10 smartphones by a huge margin. It includes a 5-inch display, but otherwise BlackBerry has been super quiet on what other specs the phone packs. Still, we know it offers many of the features built into BlackBerry 10, including the latest version of BBM with voice and video chat, the Time Shift camera feature, an FM radio and more.
BlackBerry said it will officially unveil the phone, where we’ll presumably learn a bit more about what’s under the hood, during an event in Jakarta on May 13. The company will also sell a limited edition BlackBerry Z3 Jakarta Edition smartphone that will be sold to Indosat and XL customers and has “Jakarta” inscribed on the black.
