Check Out PlayStation 4’s Next Hyper-Real Strategy Game

Are you ready for the next super high fidelity strategy title for home consoles?

Then you’ll want to look out for Pure Chess, from VooFoo Studios, out on PlayStation 4 this week.

Console developers are once again able to start exploring the boundaries of new hardware, and we’re used to seeing games like TitanfallĀ and Killzone: Shadow Fall doing this. Chess isn’t anything new to electronic gaming, but it’s interesting to see those levels of fidelity applied to such a mechanically simple game. Materials like stone, marble, and brass are reproduced in high resolution detail, and honestly they look quite good.

If you’ve ever fantasized about owning one of those ridiculously expensive chess sets in the windows of the gaming shops at the mall, Pure Chess is the cheapest way to get there, launching at $7.99.
