Starting later this month, AT&T’s GoPhone prepaid smartphone plans will receive more data and tethering at no extra cost. The carrier announced the news on Friday ahead of an official rollout next week on April 25.
Two of AT&T’s prepaid GoPhone plans in particular will be receiving a data boost. The $60 plan will increase from 2GB to 2.5GB, while the cheaper $40 plan will jump from 250MB to 500MB of data per month. Both plans will also allow subscribers to turn their phones into Wi-Fi hot spots using the data already paid for. Finally, AT&T is introducing a brand new GoPhone plan with 1GB of data for $45 per month that’s available exclusively when you sign up at Walmart.
GoPhone just became a more attractive option for anyone looking to ditch a contract. Meanwhile, existing GoPhone customer will receive a little extra data for free, and if you’re currently shopping the market for a prepaid plan AT&T’s offer might entice you to a GoPhone.
